"When Music is Missing, Music Sings"

A Percussion & Composition Workshop with the Sylvia Smith Percussion Duo and Stuart Saunders Smith

On March 4th at 3:00pm, NMC will host a workshop by our distinguished guests Sylvia Smith, Stuart Saunders Smith and Ayano Kataoka. The topic of the workshop is an in-depth discussion of the piece "When Music is Missing, Music Sings." The duo will and perform it, and talk about its mobile musical structure. It calls for five "found" instruments (objects that were not intended to be musical instruments) for each player, and the duo talk about how best to find them and bring them into a musical setting. Questions will be welcome. Suggested donation of $5. No one turned away.
