Hello Friends -

I'm pleased to announce the next New Music Co-op performance co-presented by Epistrophy Arts.

On Saturday, October 19th, 8:00pm at Ceremony Hall, 13 local musicians will perform Terry Riley's 1964 composition "In C" and new works by local composers.

We will also be performing a shortened version of "In C" on KUT Radio 90.5 during Eklektikos at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 16th. Please tune in if you would like a preview.

"In C" is realized through the collective interpretation of interlocking repetitive patterns moving through gradual changes. This premiere minimalist work has been an inspiration to many composers such as Steve Reich, Philip Glass and John Adams.

Riley's hypnotic masterpiece will be presented alongside new works by composer-performers James Alexander, Brent Fariss, Sarah Norris, Bill Thompson and Travis Weller. These chamber works will be performed by smaller groups taken from the large ensemble.

The performers include James Alexander, viola; Scott Biggs, bassoon; Brent Fariss, contrabass; Derrick Fore, bass clarinet; Jacob Green, oboe; Kirk Laktas, piano; Keith Manlove, bassoon; Sarah Norris, vibraphone; Callie Shelton, flute; Nick Smith, trombone; Bill Thompson, guitar; Travis Weller, violin; and Brandon Young, accordion. The group includes many collaborators and members of ensembles in the Austin music community such as Cinders, the Imbroglio String Quartet, Golden Arm Trio, and The Gates Ensemble.

Take care,
Travis Weller
